The training aid is dedicated to the target invention methodology which consists in revealing and solving specific technical or organizational problems.
The training aid is divided into three parts. The first part shortly describes the theoretical basics of target invention. The second part is dedicated to the explanation of the algorithm of improving problem situations (AIPS). Detailed consideration is given to each step of the algorithm and special methods used for performing this step. The third part deals with the comprehensive analysis of production problems solved according to the algorithm. In conclusion, a reader if offered several problems for independent solving.
The appendix contains a glossary which explains key terms; basic technical system evolution patterns illustrated with examples; method index.
The training aid is designed both for technical students – future engineers – and for students of business departments. It can also be useful to working engineers, designers, managers and other specialists who must quickly and effectively solve various problems of organizational or technical character.

The book is dedicated to the improvement of inventive problem solving methods and methods of forecasting the evolution of products for winning a patent struggle in particular.
A heightened attention to this aspect of innovation activity can provide a considerable benefit to a company whereas its underestimation can lead to serious losses.
In solving inventive problems and in forecasting, of great importance is adequate and effective processing of information about different versions of a technical system. Only properly classified information, that is, creation of a full and logical information structure, allows effective analysis of information.
To provide such structuring, the author has developed a special classification method for technical information. It consists in organizing information into an Evolution Tree.
